My first step into the world of photography

Well just starting to get interested in photography. Sadly, my camera is some poor quality panasonic digital DMC-FZ3 I bought a few years back because I wanted a camera for family vacation photos. Now since I'm starting to like photography as an art form, I'm looking into what camera to buy for high quality pictures. I have been practicing though and here are my most recent efforts

A foot of a dead grouse, I witnessed a red tailed hawk eating this bird and I jumped in after the spectacle to snap this. Though it turned out rather nice.

these came out nicely crisp considering my camera.

cheers, please critique as I said I am a very new to this so all advice welcome.

The effect is overall nice, the first is a bit incongruous compared to the first, looks you have a good control of DOF, exposure is nice if alittle dark, sharpness isn't impeccable on the first, and I don't like how the text is obscured by shadow in the final pic. Overall 7/10.
