My first time taking modeling photos

It was really weird because I'm really not that good yet at working the "photo shoot" yet lol. There was a lot of awkward silence. Im sure the more I do the easier it will get.

It will yes. Not bad for a first try. I like to shoot my portraits in "portrait" orientation, most of the time. The exception is when there's another element in the frame that only landscape mode will capture. With these 2 images she shares or even gives up attention to the wall in #1 and the arm in #2.

As far as the awkward silence, it get's easier to deal with models as you gain experience, at least for me it's becoming easier to joke around and get her to smile.

It's just like with any other people. The more you talk with them and engage with them the more you will capture on camera. If they THINK you are looking at them, but in fact you are just talking and clicking you'll get some awesome shots.

Yeah, I would like to do more "model" photography but that's what she wanted. She wanted her tattoo and what not in the photos. Thanks for the input, always appreciated.

I only shoot models. Having a good repoire is essential and it gets easier each time you shoot. I try and communicate when I'm shooting, always letting them know they're rocking it, never showing my emotions when something may be wrong (usually me missing the shot) and keeping things light hearted and professional. Good job on your first go around. There's a time for landscape or portrait orientation...figuring out when each style is appropriate is half the fun of learning.

Pretty girl! Her hand looks awkward in the 2nd photo though... Would look mute natural of her fingers were hanging down over the bar instead of her nails digging into the metal.

I think these are great for a first model shoot. I shoot with a decent amount of models and I usually talk with them for about 30 minutes before we even before shooting to loosen up and get comfortable. Great start though!
