What's new

My Jewish pen

Ahh caligraphy now there is a painful subject
So first

Caligraphy needs a Super Flex nib, no modern maker makes this type of nibs.
Waterman among others used to make these nibs and you can find them in pen forums or ebay.
So its simply impossible to do serious work of caligraphy with this pen its nib is simply too hard.
Secondly since English is my second language I can only print so I never could do caligraphy......sorry guys :(

But if you enjoyed these pictures I can post more pictures of other pens I have.

FYI in the past I had a lot of gorgeous pens some simply breath taking and I do have pictures of them but thats from times that I didnt really invest much time in pictures.
Here is an example of one called the Montblanc Pope Julius II LE

Thanks for the images goodguy. I just can't bring myself to collecting for the sake of collecting. I want to use mine, so it's hard to give up a lot of cash for one.

Would love to have a Mont Blanc. Very nice.

its a beautiful pen, but what makes it Jewish? the manufacturer? the engraving? the tip?

Well you need to understand every pen has a model name and the limited edition always have an ear catching name so they can sell well.

This maker (Visconti) came out with 2 pens the Jewish and Christian models.
The Jewish model has Old Testiment stories like David and Goliat, Adam and Eve, The Ark,,,,,etc etched on the barrel of the pen.
On the cap you have etched a Hassidic Jew and the wailing wall from Jerusalem.
On the blind Cap you have the 10 commandments in Hebrew and under the blind cap you have the filling mechanism with the Temple Mount as the botton.

So how much are these valued at?

I just searched and the Mont Blanc above, there is one on ebay for $3,600 asking price.

My collection didnt focus at the Patorn Of the Art like the Pope Julius, to collect the entire family of the Patron Of The Art you need to be very, very rich I used to collect the Montblanc Writers Edition and I had the entire collection with boxes and papers.
Here is a family picture of them from a review I wrote on them few years ago.

But I sold them all, I dont own a single Montblanc pen anymore.
My fountian pen collection is much smaller then it was and definitly there is much less money invested in it.

But then I also collect watches ;)

I believe it the tip is reduced slightly from a standard fountain pen.

And the fact that he got it for free...

the first part is amusing, the second is just unpleasant.

When you say expensive...
It depends where you look...

(I'm not sure if the two above are the exact same model, though.)

I hope that comment was simply a bad taste and nothing more.
I always am careful with my words to try not to hurt others, sadly not everyone else does the same.

I think I am more offended that there are pens out there that cost so much. Crazy!

Okay I admit that joke was in bad taste, I am not an anti-semite. I have a rather bleak sense of humor at times.

Thank you for clearing that, after all anyone who owns a D7000 cant be all bad LOL
I have my share of stuff I said and people took it the wrong way.

Trust me you havent seen some of the really expensive rare limited edition Montblanc makes, these pens are much more expsnsive.
A pen for collectors is like a jewel and some are very rare and very expensive.
I have another collection of a vintage pen that is called Sheaffer Snorkel, this pen was mass produced for almost 10 years in the 1950's so there are plenty of this model still around.
The regular model colours go for around 60$-100$ a pen, the more uncommon can go for few hundreds of dollars but there is one colour called Fiesta Red and I have the pen with the metal cap.
The pen is around 150$ in value but the rumour is that Sheaffer made the Fiesta Red not just with metal cap but also with plastic cap.
I personaly never seen the pen and havent even seen a picture of it, the legent is that once such a pen was sold on ebay and went for thousants of dollars.
Now that is a pen that is worth a pretty penny :)

Oh I cant help it, here few more pictures of pens from my past
