My new lens is coming next week..

After much thought I decided on the Nikon, 50mm f1.8 G prime .Im really excited..because I hear it is such a versatile great lens.. This one seemed like the next logical lens to add to my collection . Happy Mother's Day to me.. I don't get jewelry anymore. I get photography equipment.. :lol:

Awesome Tammy! You've made some good, close-in, frame-filling, shallow depth of field shots with the new 50mm G!!!! Beautiful orchids. And...did you ever notice until now just how tricky it can be to get a good shot of a flag blowing in the wind??? It can actually be VERY challenging to get the flag to look, well, "right"!!!

I have the D5100 as well and have been trying to justify the nearly $200 for this very lens! Your pics looks great!

Would this lens be good for gym/basketball shots since it has a wide aperture?
