These are family remembrance shots but not particularly good photographs for someone who isn't attached to your family.
the lighting is harsh.
In the left one, his face is in shadow and in warm light while the back of his head is bright and in cold light.
The right one is rather harsh lighting, the shadow stripes don't contribute anything and the background is distracting.
