Necessaties

What would you consider the must haves/necessaties for a hobbist?

I have a Canon T1i, 3 batteries, 2 sd cards, Hoya HMC ND8 filter, have a shutter release comming and a 18-200 canon lens.

I do have a dinky little tabletop tripod, and would like to get a better one.

On my list to get is a CPL filter 72mm and some sort of flash.

Anything else?

Other than the CPL you're already planning on - a 'real' tripod. Absolute must.

What lenses do you have already?

Flash is nice, but not necessarily a requirement - at first anyway.

Grey card is good to have too, and cheap(ish). You can get them dirt cheap, but I like the WhiBal cards. More expensive, but worth it - IMO.

Yep. It really depends what it is you photograph most of the time.

If you're gonna be shooting indoors I'd recommend a flash and or prime lens.

Camera bag to hold your stuff. I agree on the book if your new to photography. I think a tripod is close to a necessity. As mentioned, if you like to photograph things like macro or portrait - something for that. A flash may be good and a diffuser for the flash as well.
