Need Consultation Regarding Tripod

After much headaches I've decided on this tripod Amazon.com: Manfrotto 055XPROB Pro Tripod Legs (Black): Camera & Photo

First question, is the price a good deal for that specific one?

What head piece would you recommend for it? I own a Nikon D5100.

I enjoy taking portrait shots and animal shots but I'm just starting so I might broaden my likes in the future.

I would not mind spending a little more if there's a better bargain out there. Is this a tripod I might upgrade in the future or is this one that will do a great job even when I get more experience? I don't mind spending $300-350 but I can't do $500 tripods.

I got these legs about a month ago, and I love them. By far the sturdiest legs I have ever used, very adjustable / adaptable, not extremely heavy and rock solid when locked up. Keep in mind that you will need to purchase a head as well.
