Need help! Tripod mount issue!

I stripped the tripod mount screw hole on my camera. I was told it would be 100 dollars to fix it which is insane considering that it is less than 200 new. This is on my bridge camera not my SLR. I was wondering if you guys have had similar troubles and what you did. I was told to put a bit of epoxy in it and then epoxy the entire screw too my camera. Good idea or bad( i already tried super glue but that wasn't any good.)

The best way to repair this would be with a Heli-coil. Any large automotive or tool store will carry the kits for doing this. It's very simple, and should take no more then ten minutes. I've used Heli-coils in high-pressure steam applications as well as to replace the worn threads for spark-plugs. They work! You will need the 1/4-20 or 1/4NC kit.
