Okay, I finally made up my mind and placed my order. Here is what I wanted and what I bought.
I shoot family portraits, indoors and out...mostly outdoors. Wide isn't extremely important to me and once it becomes import or I see a need for it, I will get the 12-24 f4 lens. I like a little bit of distance. The families I shot with my old Canon were mostly done at 40-85, so if I was to get the 17-55, I would only have the last 15mm of lens that would really get used. Since I am NOT a huge fan of primes since I only have 1 body, those are out of the question...even though I own one.
I decided on the 24-70, now I realize this isn't the best lens for DX but it works AND I do plan to go to FX one day and don't want to have wasted money on a DX lens.
I have a shoot this weekend with two young boys (my cousins) 7 and 10 yrs old. I should have the lens on Wednesday and I will let you all know how the shoot went.
Thanks for all of your help!
