Need new photo camera for my trip to Iceland in december.

Hello,

I'm going to Iceland next december and now I'm looking for a new camera which can take good pictures when there is not that much light around.
I'm also hoping to see the Aurora Borealis and I would love to have some pictures to show at home.
Someone told me the new camera's from Sony with the Exmor R sensor are good for low light conditions but I don't have any experience with them myself, my budget is around 500 euro.
Any help would be really appreciated!

Nikon D5100 + 18-55 kit lens + 35mm 1.8G prime lens, that's about 500 euro. very good for low light, your set for most situations, except maybe wildlife photography but otherwise its quality stuff, higher quality then any sony compact or half breed with 1" sensor.

Take a small travel tripod. If you can't pack a tripod, then pack a beanbag. Remember that you have all the time in the world to capture a photo in low light... as long as your camera and subject aren't moving.
