What's new

Need to buy VR Lens 70-200mm

there's on for sale here in the buy and sell section.

Don't know if anyone here will be willing to ship expensive items to Vietnam... but good luck regardless.

Average wage in Vietnam is 392$/year based on the link provided, so buying 1500$+ lens is highly unlikely but possible I guess...

lol, you have no idea. Average, sure but there are weathy people living all over VN. A Mercedes here costs $85K but there it's more like $150K and I saw plenty. VN is not some destitute place, it's a wonderful young country and coming into it's own.

Oh I'm well aware... I lived in a former socialist country where my uncle sells a pair of shoes for 350-1200euros, yet he pays his employees 100-300$/month... with an average yearly salary under 2k a year.
I go back there on regular basis and besides the professional hired photographers at fashion shows, my D90 stands out and often I feel uncomfortable walking around with the camera on my shoulder.

Also, I've seen more Ferrari F50's and really expensive exotic cars driving around the streets of Bucharest/Romania in any given summer month than I've seen in Vancouver/Canada for the past 10 years, so yes I have some fair ideas; not to mention the roads in Bucharest are terrible and full of potholes.

That's why I said unlikely but possible :) which brings up another question in regards to your comment; if money is no object, why look into buying used expensive pro lens from a different country for a D3100? If the OP drives a 85k Mercedes, he would not play with a 500-600$ entry level DSLR camera and wanting to pair it with a 1500-2200+ pro lens...

Not saying the buyer is not genuine as I have no way of knowing but in my eyes this scenario is more plausible... not to mention I am really skeptical when dealing with buyers overseas.

Just my two cents.

yes and on that level I see your point ;)

Not sure, but doesn't most ppl take payment first before shipping... So, there should not be an issue. If the seller gets payment from whomever, then they ship. Sounds about right to me.

From my research there is way's around received payment. One of the most common used methods is using a stolen CC used to create a PayPall account. Buyer sends cash; it all looks legit and 3-4 months down the road the CC is reported stolen and all of a sudden PayPall is on your rear at which point you actually end up owing them back :(

I was selling one of my cars, and I had people from all over the world offering to buy it though PayPall and MoneyOrder cheques without even seeing or driving it... it was very fishy so I've done some extensive research and came across a ton of shipping scams.

Before selling items in foreign countries its best to research their policies and see the coverage as a seller just for the awareness factor and no surprises down the road. I know in Canada/US the creditors are pests and they tend to screw people for 7+ years with bad credit records if they dont get paid, meanwhile this doesn't matter in foreign countries; I happen to work for a financial company in the credit department and let me tell you, were not nice to people who abuse their credit.
