Agreed. I have a feeling the new 50G will have optics more closely related to the 35/1.8 or 85/1.4, so the 50/1.8D may not be such a great comparison. It's definately a starting point, though.

Now, keep in mind to take everything he says with a grain of salt. He knows what he's talking about, but he is amazingly biassed all of the time. As you can tell, he made his verdict before even putting the lens on the camera. The flickr group, though, may be of some help to you.
