Hello all. I have been busy shooting like a mad man.

I have been shooting this one band for a while now.

Here are a few from the last time I saw them.

I am still working on getting more lights. I used only one SB600 on a light stand, with a 48 inch umbrella as a defuser. Just trying to do the best I can with what I have. lol.

The first one:

Second one:

I like them. The first and third are the best. The second one just seems cropped wrong. Too much empty space above him. More of the subject should have been included in the frame, I think, to balance it out. I might have not cropped as tightly on the third one as well.

Thanks! I did not "crop" the photos in post. That's how they are from the camera. I do most definitely agree I should have took a half a step back tho!!!

Sorry - figured you had cropped them some. Too bad because then you could have played around with them a bit more. The color and light looks really good to my untrained eye - particularly for a rock band shoot. I am curious why the first one is in B&W and the others are not?

Very nice. While I like the crops, I think you cropped them too much the same. Mix it up!

I shot everything in color. So the band got color and B&W versions.

I though his photo looks much better in B&W as he has A LOT of detail in his face. I think the lack of color gets you focusing on the tones and detail a bit more. . . . .

I dunno! ! LOL

It seems a bit rough for processing. specially the woman, where there is so much detail in the texture of his skin. If this is the wanted effect, then you nailed it.

The type of processing I find lends very well to the black and white image, a little less to the colour images, and even less in the woman's image.

And i'm on board with the cropping.... shoot a little wider for a little more play. I try and get things right in camera for each shot, but when working with images that will be processed and done in the studio, either leave extra room for cropping later, or get a bigger selection of angles and in camera crops while you are shooting

your pics are good but i do not think that these will be very effective for marketing. This bad is quite old which is made even more obvious from your nice quality photos. i would poses them together from further away and do anything possible to give them a younger appeal. Not that all this would be your responsibility but definitely something you might tell them if you think they could handle such a blatant truth.
