New to Forum - Urgent guidance needed for sport photography if possible pleasee! =D

Gee... I thought they taught all this when you were in diapers. If you don't know this, get a job at Parks & Recreation picking up trash.

That's funny. At least I'm not telling people they're worthless.

You post so much you don't even know what you are typing....

Ignored.

Back on topic (ignore the troll)....

Panning is a great tool when photographing fast moving objects. Here is another shot from the same set that shows what panning can do to show speed to the viewer....

Listen 480Sparky - I came on here to ask for help. People have been kind enough to give me that help and guidance needed. You however, have come on here and not given one piece of helpful anything - you have only given annoyance. Obviously you must be seriously bored tonight but I would in the nicest way possible suggest that you find something else to do rather than wasting my time aswel as these kind peoples, and your own.

You've obviously missed the point here. This all started because I was one of the few who actually tried to give useful advice to a question in this another thread. Most everyone else said the OP was worthless.

Now I'm being attacked for standing up for my views. Apparently, that doesn't sit well with some. Oh well, I guess they have to live with themselves as I sure don't.

If it'll make you all happy, I'm done with the subject and am moving on. Carry forth.

Thanks Very Much Derrel, I am going to take copies of all this advice with me I think, because knowing me I will forget alot of it by the time I get there.
yes I am inexperienced unfortunately as I never have time to just go out and play about with different settings.

Today has been very sunny (believe it or not - because I live in England) and tomorrow is forecast the same. So fingers crossed!

I know I am jumping the gun a bit here but just for future reference anybody got any advice on what lenses may be decent for this type of photography as I am assuming I am becoming designated photographer for my bf and his mates when on the bikes! lol

This is a good lens for that:
AF-S NIKKOR 200-400mm f/4G ED VR II

But this lens is even better: AF-S NIKKOR 400mm f/2.8G ED VR

If those are out of your price range, then look at: Sigma 150-500mm f/5-6.3 AF APO DG OS HSM Telephoto Zoom Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras

As far as helping with shooting advice you lost me with the word urgent. It takes awhile just learning how to use AF and panning effectively when shooting sports.

I love the atitude people with less than 10 posts often bring to the forums.

Sorry Guys, thanks for all the advice. Ive only just got chance to get on here properly. Here are a few pics I got from the day. Not the best but i was pretty happy with them. I took nearly 1000 over the day so still need to sit and nose through them properly! =)

With the last shot using such a high shutter speed it looks static as if they are balancing
This shot is shot at 600mm at only 1/320, but i could have gone a lot higher because of the slik tires

This shot is shot at 1/160 but at 420mm i don't go much slower than this because i want them sharp, shutter speed depends a lot on the focal length also
