NEW Tokina 24-70 ATX Pro ............ still waiting.

This thing showed up back in feb at one of the big photo shows so I know it is real, but I haven't heard anything since and it isn't showing up on their website. Wonder why the hold up. I am betting it will be cheaper than the Tamron with equal or better image quality.

I wouldn't bet on it, the fact its still not out might mean they have unresolved issues, the Tamron 24-70mm 2.8 is an excellent lens, it will be very hard to top it for less money but it will be interesting to see if and when the Tokina will come out.

Tokina's 70-200mm f/4 AT-X Pro FX is shipping!!!! It has in-lens stabilization and is built heavy-duty, according to the Ken Rockwell review I read a week ago at Tokina 70-200mm Review

...I suspect the 24-70 will be out soon though...this is prime-time for camera and lens buying!

I would bet on it. the 70-200 is available and selling at BH for 999. The 24-70 is listed but not yet available. I have owned several tamrons and tokinas. I have liked all the tokinas and disliked all the tamrons, so I have stayed away from the tamron. A friend of mine had one and it was soft, probably a bad copy, but still.

I have one Tamron the 70-200mm 2.8 VC and its amazingly sharp even at 2.8 but when I bought it (brand new) it was soft, I fine tuned my then d7100 and got it to work fine but never the less I sent it to Tamron service got it 2 days later and now its amazing, simply amazing.
Since I own already a 24-70mm 2.8 lens I will not be interested myself in such a lens but it still will be interesting to see how good and how expensive this Tokina will be.
