Red makes some really high end gear - but it also costs a lot more than your average DSLR. Heck they also do custom kits that can be combined to build your own ideal camera system - which is again very costly.

From what it sounded like, this is a video camera that also takes stills. It's like $25,000 so yes, it is quite pricey.

You can get like 100 MP 4"x5" large format sensors for half that nowadays. I'm sure red is good for what it is specifically marketed for--pro cinema--but doesn't sound like much else.
