Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
Hey guys, As you can see this is my first post and first thread. I took these pictures up in Newport over this past weekend. My Dad let me use his Nikon D80 and I was using a 55-200 mm lens the whole time. I was on a spectator boat named Cangarda and I thought it was one of the nicest boats I've been on. This is really the first time I have taken pictures so I'd love some c+c. I know nothing about photography so I'll look for some tutorial threads on here but any links would be great. Thanks a lot! i can't figure out how to put them all in one post so I'll make a few posts

This thread hasn't gotten much attention and no c&c bc there are waaay too many. You want to post your best 2-5 for good c&c and make sure to number them. Welcome to the forum. If you play nice and take criticism well you will learn a lot here.

Alright thanks. Should I make a new thread or delete some of these pictures?

I like the shot of the little canon but I think a little broader shot that takes in more of the surroundings might prove to be a good picture.

As has been said above, there are too many photos included in your 2 posts to formulate any kind of constructive critiques on the ensemble. However, I'll venture a comment on a few.

The detail photo of the motor launch helm is interesting within the context of the whole presentation. It may be a bit warm in tone but not terribly so. Too bad for the knotted rope crossing the foreground of your image.

The picture of your shoes should not have been included, it really does contribute anything to the story told by your photo essay.

The photo where the boats are rounding the buoy (3rd picture) is a nice action shot, in theory. The framing is off though. You have too much water at the bottom of the frame and not enough of the boats.

The sixth image, where the 2 boats are nearly in line, would be more dramatic with just a bit closer framing and if the image was not tilted.

The last image is pretty good.

You did a pretty good job of telling the story of your day on the water. Some images could have been left out. One thing you should try and pay attention to is the tilt of your photos, especially where a water horizon is present where the least little bit of tilt becomes noticeable and distracting.

Oh and by the way, welcome to TPF.

Thanks a lot. The rope was unfortunate, that was my favorite picture of them all. I think I'm going out this weekend to take some pictures at a park near me so I'll keep that in mind. I'll make a new thread with less pictures and see if I get some more responses

Thanks again
