Hello Everyone

I'm currently using Nikon L110 and thinking to move to DSLR. I'm a student and low on budget.

I have two choice, I read lot's of reviews and still confused what to buy.

1) Buy Nikon D3100 with 18-55 mm VR Kit lens + 55-200mm VR lens
or
2) Buy Nikon D5100 with 18-55mm VR kit lens.

Which is better i need some genuine advice so i can decide, using 55-200mm lens i can get more flexibility but using Nikon D5100 i can get some cool features like Exposure bracketing which is not available in D3100, also D5100 has a sensor which is came with D7000.

Please help me to choose one.

Get the D5100. It will probably last you longer, learning wise, than the 3100. Plus, I have the D5100 and love it. Amazing camera, and very popular.

D5100. You can save for additional glass later. Or go for a refurb lens for a little over $100.

D5100 cost me more 150$, D5100 worth it compare to D3100?

Yes. And I'm not sure what your skill level is, but I would say all you need is one lens to begin with until you learn all the basics, then you can start looking into other lenses to expand your experience.

I have a good knowledge of DLSR, shutter speed, aperture, iso, etc and I am able to shoot in full manual mode.

Have you looked into the D5200? I have a 5100 but the newer sensor and more AF points are something I wish I had.

I think you have a pretty good handle on the differences between the 2 bodies. The d3100 is more than capable of taking wonderful pictures.

So what you want to say, should i go with d3100?

No one can make that decision for you, you have to make it.

Out of the two I would go with the D5100 if you can afford it.
