Nikon D3400 or Canon rebel t6??

Im looking to buy my first DSLR but I'm debating on the Nikon D3400 or the Canon Rebel t6? the D3400 is 24 megapixel but the t6 is only 18 & at the end of the day is there a big difrence? my first choice was the T6 but I think the D3400 is better am I right?? or its just a personal choice? thank you

Pick up each and go with the one that "feels right" in your hands. You'll find that that most of the cameras (lenses, flashes) in the same price range will have comparable features.

Go for the Nikon D3400

The Canon T6 is using a very old sensor, its showing its age and just a shame to waste money on it.
The Nikon has better low light performance and better dynamic range.
As you stated more resolution, also due to newer technology the Nikon D3400 is capable of making sharper images.

The Canon is behind the times. Unless you want Canon system for other reasons. Like a specific pro body in the future. Nikon has been continuously upgrading every level of their DSLRs. Of the two cameras you listed, d3400 is the way to go. I have d3300 with me now. Good basic travel camera.

I agree, Canon will give you better "IQ" image quality, AF, features, etc, but look at all the models - 77D, 850D, etc.
and if it's for travel look at the mirrorless cameras - smaller, lighter but can still use DSLR lens
