Nikon d700 Help

I have a question about the d700.

So when I take continuous photos the buffer stops after taking 9 frames in a burst. The buffer capacity is 17 frames, but it stops at 9... does anyone know why?

I use a Sandisk Extreme III 8gb 30mb/s card.
I shoot in 12 bit with D-Lighting off, long exposure off, and high ISO NR off.

Do you think it is the CF card not being above 30mb/s? Or is there any other reason why?

The first 2 quick thoughts I have... You don't happen to have 9 step bracketing turned on? Are you set to just raw? raw+jpeg fine or tiff?

It was the bracketing turned on! Thank you so much you have made it so much easier for me!

Have you set up your Shooting Banks? A good idea is to keep one set to the factory defaults for situations such as this. It's easy to forget a change you've made especially when you keep coming up with 3 when adding 2 + 2.

I have and all of them currently had the bracketing so I could shoot 8fps without the grip
