Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
I'm a new DSLR owner and I'm working with my Nikon D7000 for about a week now. I'm enjoying the experience so far but I am having problems printing some of my shots. I downloaded my pics on my mac and I tried printing a few shots on MPIX but the resolution is apparently too low to print anything bigger than a mini wallet size. I used the scene settings on many of the shots and I set the camera on Fine/Large settings. I could understand that I am not able to shoot great images yet but I am hoping that its not a camera issue.... upon looking at the pics, they look good to the unexperienced eye but should I be worried/return the camera? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I tried uploading the pics on the gallery but the images were too large... I will try again but the resolution on one of the shots was 4435 x 2937 saved on a 3.1 mb file. I didnt see a resolution option on MPIX but I do want to makesure its not a camera issue.

That is definitely more than adequate resolution (as long as that is what MPIX recieved).. so unless it was severely underexposed.. there shouldn't have been a problem.

Load the images on Photobucket.com, or similar.. and then post the IMG links here...

The pixels-per-inch (PPI) value has likely been set on the photos you uploaded to Mpix. PPI defines the size of a photo.

For instance, your 4435 x 2937 pixel photo at 300 PPI will print 14.8 inches by 9.79 inches (divide the pixels by the PPI to get the inches)

You don't want a large PPI value set on photos you upload to Mpix. Mpix used to have a lower limit of 100 PPI. Their print machine 's RIP (Raster Image Processor) software will take care of that for you.
They have changed their web site and no longer have, that I can find, a help section describing how to prepare your photos for printing.

Mpix previously stated they want JPEG files (no TIFF, PSD, PNG) in the sRGB color space with no profiles embedded in the photo.

I ended up saving one of my images to my desktop from IPHOTO on my Mac and then uploaded to MPIX- it worked! It seems that the photo's were uploaded from IPHOTO's preview screen directly onto MPIX which are well below the images actual resolution. I tried to find other options on MPIX but couldnt. Anyone else have this issue with uploading images from IPHOTO to MPIX? Anyway around it other than saving individual pics on desktop again and then uploading to MPIX? Thank again.

I don't use MPIX.. but don't they have their own uploading software like many of the pro labs do? I would use that if I were you, since it usually allows batch uploads.

Glad to hear that the problem is what I suspected it was.. easy to fix that way! :)
