Nikon Glass

Glass is one of those things where the saying 'you get what you pay for' actually applies. Shop around... especially pawn shops and ebay and try to hold out for better glass. If you want to get started right away, concider something manual. Thats the beauty of nikon. Ive got an old Nikkor 300mm that I picked up for next to nothing. Indexed, it mounts to my D100. Nothing taught me about photography, and focus in the same way as a manual focus tour of the zoo.

OK, I just bought the Nikkor 300mm 4.5 AI lens. Will this work fine on my d70? The owner assured me it would.

Any good teleconverters I should look into?

If you still need a longer lens and it is only for a small number of shots you can always look at renting a lens that you might not be able to afford. Pete's rents glass I think..

haha, I see your point nikonchick. Problem is, I am a compulsive ebay shopper. I thought this was a good deal, so I took it. You are right, though. If I feel its a good deal, the only preson that matters is me--and believe me, I will enjoy this lens. I just hoped someone had some insight to the lens to help me out--if they had previously used one, etc.

Well, if you insist. I dont have one, but it is very pretty and the price seems right. Im a compulsive ebay window shopper. Im always looking there for stuff and have bought a couple of things but I prefer to look through glass before buying it.... then I know for sure what Im getting. Im not comfortable forking out a few hundred bucks without looking through the lens first... thats just me though.... CONGRATS and be sure to post some stuff from your new lens. :D
