Nikon Z7ii taking pictures in movie mode

I'm just getting acquainted with my new Z7ii. I am supposed to be able to take a photo while a movie is being recorded. I am getting an icon indicating I can not take a photo while recording. My shutter button is programmed to operate the shutter in Movie Mode (default). What may be keeping this function from working?

Isn't it explained in the manual?

It wasn't clear, but I tried changing the frame size/ frame rate and that fixed the issue.
