Nikon Z8 Banding on Macro

Hi All,

I have not seen this before:

The NEF File is same in whatever program I open it in.

Is it from the flash or because I am using a high shutter speed and HSS ?????

Any suggestion gratefully received on not getting banding.

After a few video tutorials.
I created a small JPG and opened in Affinity and made a duplicate. I then added some motion blur to the entire image to make the banding invisible:

Then used the ERASE BRUSH on the duplicate layer to reveal the original subject. Took less than a minute.

Went from this:

Still would like to know why the banding appeared in the first place.

I thought Nikon had that fixed with their mirrorless. Guess not, lots of posts on google about this subject.

It most likely isn't the camera but the flash trigger not syncing with the electronic shutter in the camera.

You don't mention which flash and trigger being used.

Godox V1 flash and Godox XPRO ll trigger.

I have not seen the banding before this particular event and i have hundreds of pics shot in the same way with no banding.

Firmware might be a fix, XProII-N Firmware V1.56 and Nikon v3.10

Due to electronic shutter only, this can be the source of the issue. One solution is a ND or variable ND so you can shoot at the sync speed.

BTW, this isn't just a Nikon issue, any MILC in electronic shutter mode is at the mercy of syncing strobe pulses with sensor scan rate. Global shutters can solve this but also have their own caveats.
