Noob question for buying a special camera

Hey everyone, I want to buy a camera with a very specific effect.
I love the movie Koyaanisqatsi and its very visually pleasing to me, here are some images of the movie:

Is there a camera I can buy, maybe an old one, that can achieve this effect? Or maybe I can do some photo editing (though I dont think you could fake an effect like that easily).
I can spend quite some money.

I hope this is not a very stupid question ;p

What specifically about these images to do you want to replicate? I don't see anything unusual or unique in them.

It has a kinda warm, crunchy, vintage feel to it.
the whites look a bit yellow, the darks look blue/purple -ish

You can tweak any image in post processing to do that. No special camera is needed.

Canon cameras support a feature called "Picture Style" (I imagine Nikon cameras may have a similar feature but I am not familiar with them) where they'll do this for you in-camera. They even have a picture-style editor (computer software) which allows you to create your own picture styles and load them into the camera. This would allow you to create more saturated colors or more subdued colors -- or alter the color cast. You can even selectively change any color to a different color. Sharpening and softening, etc. are also features. This requires that you shoot JPEG (not RAW) to use Picture Styles but if you're not familiar with how to use post-processing software, the camera can do it for you.

Most people, however, probably prefer to do this on the computer and NOT in camera. When done in camera then that's it... it's done. You're more limited in what you can do afterwards because the original image data has been adjusted and only the results are saved -- original data isn't saved. When you do it on the computer, you get the original data so you can try changes without making them permanent.

As TCampbell said, it is all about post processing. These shots look a little bit like Velvia simulation, but not quite. Just research various plugins/filters from companies like DxO, Topaz Labs, Nik etc. There are lots, some work with Photoshop or Lightroom, some can be used on its own. Once you find your plugin and adjust the parameters, it is all about one click basically. Then any camera with good dynamic range i.e. decent sensor will do.
