Not so new newbie

I'm new to site, but I've been shooting for about 3 years now, both freelance and in a few small studios. A lot of what I've learned is self taught, so I'm prone to more than one mistake, but I can take constructive criticism and critiques, as I want to get better at this. The tones in your black and whites are off.

The subjects are being absorbed by the background.

I was just going to say flat but pretty much same idea. Try boosting the contrast a bit more in post processing OR if you are using more then one light source, change your lighting ratios.
