From a`recent session with local model Carolyn... at first I passed right by it in LR, but on second look there's something about it. I think. Or is it just me? Thoughts? (PS... the hair over the eye was a deliberate decision)

But the fingernail polish looks out of sync
and shouldnt the left hand fingers be more orderly .. At least from what I've been reading about fingers. Lol

ok, I'm a straight woman so maybe a little more unbiased than the above posters ... anyway, I kind of like it but her bottom hand is bothering me. It looks a little claw like but you don't really notice it until you have looked at the shot for several minutes. I really like her expression and the way the light falls on her face.

It wasn't actually a pose; I'd asked her to show me "school-teacher" and she was just getting into character when I grabbed this one.

Her expression is very interesting, ambiguous. The lighting is lovely. I also like the subtlety of color here, the darker and lighter browns and the hint of green on her nail and ring.

Thanks! I hadn't thought of a higher crop; I will give that a try this evening.

Good job! I like the simplicity of this portrait.

You have DIRECTION in the main light (catch light where it should be) and a nice soft shadow side on her face--she's slim so she does not need hard short-light.

The hand at her chin is not ideal; because you have good directional lighting AND because you have that hand flat to the camera we are seeing that unattractive detail on the back of her hand. That bent finger bugs me too!

In portraiture of women we usually prefer to show the EDGE OF THE HANDS instead of having hands flat to the camera--yes this is the hardest part in poseing people (hands and feet).

Take a look at this image in B&W to make her nail color neutral...

I feel that I am not qualified to critique your work as you are screeds ahead of me in this profession BUT I will have my say (taken with a grain of salt ok) I don't like the pose, I do like her face and expression but the finger to the lip and the green nail polish seem too forced. Lighting obviously is exceptional.
