OCF take "2"

I decided that I wanted to practice outside again with OCF. This time I enlisted the help of my three beautiful children.

#1 I like this one, except the way the shadow is falling across his face from his nose. I needed to bring the flash up higher, but there was a breeze that kept trying to know my flash over and no one to hold it for me, so I couldn't put it up as high as I wanted.. :\

#2 I like this one (except for the stick in the background going into his neck). It is a little too warm as compared with his brother and sister's pictures, I am still trying to mess with the white balance to make it more accurate...

#3 Happy with this one, but if I was to do it over again, I would move a little to avoid the branch behind her going into her head like that. lol I was just trying to catch her looking at me (she is a busy little thing!) and I didn't notice that stick until post..

This is my 2nd OFC outside shoot. What do you think?

Nice kids. The clothing is over exposed in 1 and 3. It's easy to remove those branches if you have photoshop...

Well, you've already mentioned the background problems, so let's discuss the lighting. Do you see that the lighting in #3 is much better that in #2? #2 lighting is too flat, and #3 there is a noticeable difference between the two sides of her face. Now #1 has some unfortunately placed shadows, chances are that your flash overpowered the natural light, and made those shadows. I think you have some models there. I especially like the countanance of the little girl in #3.

Yes, number one was the first off my camera, but the expression was the most genuine or his so I chose to keep it despite the unfortunate shadows. :\ After this picture I turned the power down on my speedlight.

#2 is really flat lighting. I'm not sure what happened here, unless maybe he was turned toward the flash and too close, which is possible because the wind kept blowing my stand over and I kept trying to put it different places to avoid the wind.. I'll go back and look through the set again.

I don't think I mind the clothing being "over exposed" because I'm not distracted by it. I like the clean/crisp look of white in all that green surroundings.

People tell me not to shoot white, but rules are made to be broken right? lol
