I was living in Del City when the bombing occurred. We were working on a couple pods being added to the prison near Hinton, Oklahoma that day and only heard bits and pieces of the news concerning it. I initially heard there was a huge explosion at a building downtown, and my first thought was it had been a natural gas explosion and might have happened during a construction/remodeling project. I was praying no one I knew was injured as that was the type work I was doing ( commercial plumbing and pipefitting out of Local 344 in OKC ). We worked a double shift that day so we could take the following day off and have a long weekend. Once we finally got home, I was glued to the tv, watching the heart-wrenching images and film that affected every Oklahoman. We were all stunned and dazed, as I recall.

A friend of mine survived the bombing. After hearing his story about it I couldnt go see the memorial until recently. I'll try to post more pictures of the memorial later.

There was one memory that has stuck with me all these years. It was the story of a young mother who lost both her little sons in the daycare at the Murrah building. After the birth of the last child, she had a tubal ligation and the loss of both her children meant she'd never have children again. A doctor in or near Dallas, Tx performed a reversal free of charge for her. This incredible act of kindness and her deep sorrow at losing those little boys is always one of the first things I think of when that day is mentioned.
