old lens new camera

heres the deal my mother wants to buy a new dslr how ever she was told by someone somewhere that her old camera lens's would work on some newer camera's.
Her old camera is a minolta maxim 7000 are there any cameras that would be compatible withg the len's from this. She was told that some sony cameras would work

see, it depends
i had the 3000 (or 300 i forget) and the lenses with that one didnt work on all the Sony's i tried with them
you would do well to go to a store that will let you try the lens on the camera and see
you never know

If they're Autofocus lenses, they'll work. If they're not, they'll still Manually focus. Sony is a great choice anyhow. Not saying any of the other companies aren't but I'm happy with my products.
