Old man who carries people's shopping for a living...

Hi, I'm wondering what you think of this photo? I guess for me it represents a hard life as this man was really old and just walked about the streets looking for someone to need his services

. Not sure about its photographic merit but let me know anyway.

The picture is a good start.
Where do you want people to look?
As it is now, his face is dark, there are many areas much brighter and the background has a lot of color - things that attract a viewer's eye.
(there is a lot of perspective distortion from using a wide angle lens.)
This is the time when B&W needs to be considered.

(If this was a raw file the bright areas might be able to be controlled more easily.)

I fixed some of the perspective distortion, brightened the too dark areas as much as possible,darkened the too dark areas AMAP.
Darkened the background so the man stands out and then converted to BW

Without the explanation ... it looks like an old man with a modified wheelbarrow.

The stare looks more interesting.
