The steering cable was there but disconnected. You can see it in the photo hanging over the back of the cockpit. I'm sure it was repairable. Hopefully some child will still have the joy of taxiing that beauty down the runway.

I love this plane! I'd have been a bad influence, encouraging you to get it.
