Ok so this guy calls me from our film school, says he thinks he can get several wedding clients, his cousin is a DJ and does weddings other events and they also have a few friends doing different things,
So i asked him what exactly will i be hired for and he says to take photos and videos, edit videos, etc and that we split it 50/50, it sounded right. (if we both do it together)
Later he tells me he will start his own company, small biz stuff etc, he tells me that one of the key reasons he thinks we can get work is because i do allot more video on the side, that if we also do video presentations at the weddings (using photos and videos of the couple before up till they got engaged) or even of the weddings themselves we can make a killing.
Here is the catch, he does not want to edit video or knows how, ha has no skills in graphics, he cant, he even asked me to make his business cards and put down he does video, film, digital photography and all the stuff i do, he says its because we will do this and split it 50/50 and i argued that if he is not a DJ why put down on back of your business card all this instead of starting some sort of a service that has all these people, how is this 50/50 i asked, why should the DJ , your videoagrapher (me) or even the graphic artists doing the invites and everyone at the restaurant working for the wedding dinner split the money 50/50 with you?
He says he will get the job and its normal, thought to myself as long as i get paid fair fine but if he puts on paper we split the work while he was smoking cigs and drinking booze i may not be happy with crediting a bum anything for the money., am i not been honest?
