One of first taken with DSLR - Flower

I was digging around my computer last night for something, and I came across this image I took 5.5 years ago. It was one of the first images I took with my camera (at least in an artsy form). Not sure what mode I was in or how I processed it, but I know I used Photoshop.

When I compare this to my current photos... I don’t know what happened since then!

Anyways, from EXIF: ISO-200; f/11; 1/250 sec.

C&C may not be helpful since this is an older shot, but the blown highlights are a bit of a negative.

Not sure what you mean by this. Do you think you've improved, or do you consider this better than your more recent work?

Thanks! Yeah, not really asking for C&C, just posting a picture Definitely dislike the blown highlights.

I should have clarified. I used to take artistic shots and really enjoyed taking pictures of pretty much everything. Life/work got in the way, and I definitely don't get out as much as I used/want to.

For me, there's a lot to like here, but art speaks to different people differently. I like the blur of the BG, and the shadowy texture of the leaves. The stuff in the center of the flower is interesting ... The texture in the petals gives me a overall dry, crackly, crumbly feel to the flower ... Maybe an overall feeling of solitude, fragility was the intent?

Personally I can't decide if I like the bright-blown bottom leaves. I think maybe I do.

I personally kind of like the blown out portions, but definitely agree that it speaks to everyone differently! Although, if I was processing this now, I might try to bring them back.
