A rework of an image I had paid no attention to a while ago. I wish I had more DOF. But I still think it works alright.

I really like this. I know this next comment is going to sound like a contradiction, but it's kind of creepy. It's a pretty flower, but because of the monochrome, negative space, and DOF, it's also almost like a disembodied, menacing alien. I love when a simple image can obtain that kind of duality and ambiguity.

For me, there were too many of the same tonal values trying to separate the flower parts. By opening up some of the blacks and grays and then doing some selective sharpening followed with a square crop, I think helps to make a better definition of values.
