Ospery... AGAIN?

[Newtricks]

I was reading this afternoon when the screeching of a raptor caught my attention, grabbed the camera, slipped into my shoes and was out the backdoor... looking around I quickly spotted this bird perched high in a tree across the river. Just managed to snap a couple of fast pics before it flew off. This bird has been spending so much time around here, I'll be saddened when it moves on.

I know this photo suffers from motion blur and has sharpness issues. What I really like is the angle of the wings in relation to the birds body and each other and their span.

Ospreys like many birds tend to follow the same patterns every day. If you see one in one spot, you will probably see it the next day in the same spot. More than learning settings, learning your subject and getting closer is key....

I agree on getting closer, with that far of a distance it is really hard to get sharp images even at high shutter speeds.

There's one that comes around every morning and evening about the same time. This afternoon two of them where riding the thermals, but well beyond the reach of with my 70-300.
