Outdoor dance question

Ok I know this is very last minute but I thought it's worth a shot to ask.

I want to go take pictures at the Native American flute festival that is in town this afternoon. I am looking forward to the dancing late this afternoon and would love to get some great photos, not just snapshots.

Weather today is partly sunny, but dance will be under a tent starting at 5. Any suggestions on how to get the best shots? I am looking for shots that show off the outfits as well as those that capture the dance itself. Also hoping for semi close ups to show off the dancers facial features and makeup.

Talk to the organizer or the head of the troupe, and ask for posing. Offer to pay. I have no idea how much you should expect to pay, but work a deal.
