Painted Look

I don't usually care much for the "artistic" filters in PS but I played with this one a little and liked it. This was taken after sundown Tues near Leadville, CO. It's a little too dark maybe but I like the effect.

Okay here is is a little lighter, I still like the dark one for some reason.

The dark version works for me, maybe because my monitor is quite bright and I thus see each and every tree in the first version, too. And I like the dark background in contrast with the lighter slope and the very light autumn leaves of the trees in front.

What I would like to know now is: what was the original like? Was it less interesting to look at without this "artistic filter"? I would not think so!

nice view drdan, i'll bet the mountains there are quite a sight.

Here it is with very much the same editing except no "dry brush" filter. I don't like it as much.
