I took this early last year in Downtown L.A. My buddy was commissioned to paint an electrical box as part of some art project that the city was doing so he asked me to go with him and take some shots of him.

Would love some feedback!

To be honest, this isn't really working for me. There's so little person in the image, and between the dark & headphones, and the extreme softness of him, what there is doesn't really add to the image. I think if you moved back a bit, and captured more of the scene, and with maybe a bit more DoF, this would have been much stronger..

As for your photo; it might have been better to show a different subject with better light.

I like the palette and all the swirls of color but the rest of the shot is very distracting.

I would have to smack the painter for how he uses his palette, provided I knew him and was allowed to do so. What a mess.
