Holy crap is panning with small R.C. planes tough... I went through a bunch that I had and I like this one the best. I still have a ton to go through, hopefully I got one of the jets, but they are wicked tough to shoot. The are small, fast moving, and wicked mean to your auto focus... Anyway here's my shot, C&C always welcome...

That is excellent, squint just slightly and it definately looks real.

Sweet Ultimate Biplane! Panning is tough in harsh daylight. What settings did you use?

I really like the photo. That gives me the idea of getting photos of my 100 mph rc car if I can pull it off. That maybe just the inspiration I was looking for.

I find panning something slower harder.

Hey thanks guys... As far as the settings it was iso 100 f13 1/80 Schwetty I agree that panning with slow moving objects can be difficult, but what makes these planes particularly tough is the fact that they are so small and moving so fast. Further complicating the shots was all the stuff along the runway. They have all sorts of markers, cones, and painted lines that can wreak havoc on the shots. All in all a good learning experience though and thanks for all the feedback...

When panning in harsh daylight, try ND filter. One that will get your aperture down to f8-11 range while keeping your shutter speeds where you want them. The detail on the subject will be much sharper.

I find the focus on this slightly soft but under the circumstances I think it's a terrific capture. Well done.
