part-time photographer

I do photojournalism for the military if you have questions I have answers. There are two sides military and civilian photographers though the civilian jobs are normally filled by retired military photographers.

Well I can only speak for the USAF side. Some bases have civilian photographers most do not. The bases that do contract that service to a buisness the buisness itself will hire people. And some positions are GS jobs. You have to have degree in mass communicaions with other requirements. You will mainly only shooting studios, events, grip n grin type photos. All the fun and exciting photography is done my the military photog. Writing maybe a requirement. A contracted photog will only come in when needed and paid for each photo provided and needed at a flat rate. A GS photog works 5 days a week or more with a set salary and over time pay will increase. Again its would be very diffacult to get those jobs without connections.
