I decided to shoot a peacock feather today. Critique is greatly appreciated. Hardcore critique is even more appreciated. Thanks for looking.

Yes.

I love Peacock feathers but this one looks odd. I'm digging the patterns and textures......maybe it's the background, can't put my finger on what I am wanting to say.

I'll come back later if it hits me.

Tonal range seems a bit limited from my memory of the subject. Could just be the JPG, or perhaps a lighting tweak could bring more dynamic range to the capture. Is the 'shimmer' strongest at a direct or off angle?
