Yesterday, I decided to go visit a local waterfall after a couple days of heavy rainfall. Comments and critiques are appreciated.

What was your exposure time on this? I find 1-2 seconds to be the sweet spot, for me anyway. This either looks like too long of an exposure, or the waterfall was raging. When falls are really roaring, I don't bother to shoot them because the water ends up being one giant highlight.

I would prefer a shorter exposure, and maybe in color depending what the scenery is like.

I must admit to having a bias for waterfall pics. This one I like, for the most part, except the exposure could be a little shorter as has been noted. I would also like to see the colour version for comparison as not every image makes a good B&W image. This one has a lot of whites - the water, and a lot of blacks - mostly everything else. I always like to see some various shades of grey in my conversions. How did you do the conversion?

My other thought was that it would be nice, for comparison, to see an image when the falls is not so "roaring".

Using the black and white adjustment layer in photoshop, I converted this image to black and white because I felt that the color in the scene was dull. However, there appeared to be considerable contrast between the water and the surrounding scene, so I thought that black and white would work better. I have attached an image showing the falls just a week or so earlier.

I like the second one too. There are some interesting colours in the rocks that we see in this image. Do you have the colour version of the B&W that you would care to share? I think it would be interesting to see the colour version of the one you converted.
