That's probably because you are approaching them with a fork and knife in your hands and a look of desperate hunger in your eyes.

Yeah, I suppose laying down about 10 feet from a pissed off Iguana was not one of my brighter moments...LOL... As far as the Geese go, I would suggest throwing down some food for them, that will keep them occupied while you get a good shot. That's what I do with the Ducks in my parents back yard, but then again, they don't bite or chase. Of course, a photo of a goose about to peck you would be freakin hilarious, I'm thinking cool fish-eye lens shot...LOL
