I get that people like it, but IMO - I don't care for it. It does not look correct and seems strange. However, I like your cropped version, but I think the overall photo should be brighter, and you should also tell "your old lady" to take her sunglasses off on your next practice shot The eyes are the gateway to the soul

So the crop is decent then, which was my concern. I initially wanted to crop longer above the knees-ish, but it looked weird.

they look bright enough on my craptop, remember, what looks bright to me generally is dark to you folks. so normally I'd adjust to compensate if it was a photo I was going to keep or print.

You always talk about your craptop. . . .so, maybe it's time for a real macbook On my calibrated mac - it looks too dark. . . and I know you prefer dark, but I think portraits should be a bit lighter.

yeah I prefer dark, but usually in background, not subject.

I have just learned that what you folks see isn't what I see. The plans are to get an external monitor that I can calibrate at work, just gonna be a while on that. Lately, if I want to print something I take it to work and use the computers there to make final adjustments. which is usually brightening it up, lol.
