Its size alone is amazing, especially given that it covers only a 1/2" sensor!

Regardless, I can only imagine the amount of fun I could have with something like that.

1/2" sensor, that'd be what...2.75 crop sensor?

very small sensors are pretty common in machine vision. They require high DOF and apparent magnification, and do not typically need high resolution. It's not uncommon to see a $3,000 telecentric lens that only only covers a 1/2" circle.

Kind of frustrating actually, there's a lot of really neat analytical optics that could have creative uses, especially for macro.

I'd love to have a telecentric lens that covers APS-C...
