So, what i did wrong: I should've took a step back, and not cut the top of little Chandler's head off, and his arm is over exposed.
I will accept all the critiquing anyone wants to give, take note, and try to do better. ;) thanks guys

Yeah, pretty much. The danger of shooting in partial shade is shots like this. Parts of the subject in full sun, and parts of the subject in shade. I realize this was probably a candid shot, but if you don't already own one, a 5 in 1 reflector can be a Godsend for shots like this...simply remove the reflective material and you have a great diffuser to soften that light and more evenly illuminate your subject.

You do a fairly good job of critiquing yourself! ;)

I think the right side of his face needs to be better lit and his eyes visible.

Cute photo, cute kid! :)

You took a very nice photo IMO.

What a cute squishy baby! :D Ditto what you said about the composition and the exposure. Some fill flash would have helped with the shadows

Thanks for the critiques ;) Chandler is a cutie baby. I had my external flash on, but it didn't fire for this paticular shot :(

Hum, i shot a series of Chandler playing peek-a-boo with his mamaw, and you can tell the flash fired in a lot of them. Maybe i'm wrong..? I didn't check the exif, i just went on what the photo looked like. My flash is an old Eastman Classifieds (like Craigslist) bargain, so it may have some problems i haven't discovered yet!

Arm doesn't appear to be blown out, its not that badly over exposed. Excellent shot otherwise. Cutting off the head doesnt look *THAT* bad as it somewhat looks intentional although I do agree its probably best not to chop it off...
