photographing the moon and clouds

hi im new to photography and i want to know what is the i guess cheapest camera or size of camera what do i need to buy in order to photograph the moon and the clouds around it. tonight has a beautiful moon even though it is blackened with the storm clouds around it it would make a beautiful pic. thanks

The cheapest camera that can photograph the moon is the cheapest camera you can buy.

However, if you want to take good photographs, you're gonna have to pony up a bit more. You'll learn pretty quickly that the dynamic range of a scene like you describe is beyond the average camera.

While Sparky is correct, it's far more about the lens than the camera. For a really good moon shot, you want at least a 400mm lens. Also remember that the best shots will be had before it's totally dark.
