I'm planing to take a trip down to NYC over the Thanksgiving weekend,(first time there) anyone have any tips or suggestions for shooting at this time of year in New York? Ill be hitting up the Macy's Parade for sure any other tips or suggestions or places to go other then the normal tourist stuff, would be greatly appreciated.

There are so many good locations...

* China Town/Canal Street
* East 14th Street
* the Lower East Side
* Central Park

What do you like to take pictures of? People? Landscapes? Architecture?

Just remember where you are at all times and hold onto your camera. ;)

Additional question...are you traveling with the family/kids?

One thing I can say for sure. Get to the parade location of choice very, very early. Expect to walk.

Seriously walk around and point your camera where nobody else has.

If you're the artsty type go to williamsburg in brooklyn. A lot of cool stuff there such as graffiti, murals, street art, cool buildings, etc. Central park obviously if you want some touristy pics. but I'd say SoHo and Brooklyn for some cool unseen pics of NYC. PM me and I'll help you with directions or any of that kind of stuff. I'm in the city almost every day, yet I've never brought my camera...weird:er: I've gotta get on that

Ive been to the city hundreds of times
#1 the macys parade is a hectic mess
#2 i think the best view especially at sunset is rockefeller centre
I highly reccomend it, Also if you take a tour bus, they take you to lots of very nice places, where you can get off, ttake pictures, and get back on another bus
I especially likethe original macy's building
If you want to take out 2 hours of your time, i highly reccomend the tour bus, its a great experience, and you can capture lots of photos.
Have fun,
Anthony

The Empire State Building is good for getting arial views of the city. (if you have 22.00 to visit the observatory. Also try going to the lower part of Central Park (59th st entrance) lots of different types of people to photograph just hanging out.
