Photoshop Lightroom 3 & Elements 10...Do I need both?

I had been using Adobe Photoshop Elements 6. My husband got me both Lightroom 3 and Elements 10. Should I keep both or just lightroom and why? Thanks for any opinions on this

Yes. Use Both. They compliment each other nicely.

Lightroom is an image catalog (database) management application, that includes a parametric Raw converter ACR (Adobe Camera Raw - Lightroom's Develope module).

Elements has a de-featured version of ACR.

Lightroom cannot edit pixels, Elements 10 can.

Lightroom cannot do Layers, Elements 10 can.

Lightroom has rudimentary selection and masking tools, Elements has better selection tools and so-so masking tools.

Use both Lightroom and Elements to compliment each other. In fact Adobe designed both so they can integrate tightly.
